The boy’s picture went viral in mid-January and a social media campaign was launched to identify who he was. Remember the boy who wore a Lionel Messi T-shirt made from a blue-striped plastic bag? Later identified as five-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi from Afghanistan, the little kid has now been gifted a Messi-autographed Argentina shirt and a football by the Argentine footballer himself.

According to BBC, Messi’s management team sent these gifts to the boy after his photos went viral. Ecstatic at receiving the gift, Ahmadi said, “I love Messi and my shirt says Messi loves me.”

After a lot of fake claims, his identity was revealed by Robin Hirori, a football fan from Sweden which lead to many wanting to gift him a Messi T-shirt. Later, the kid was invited to play by the Afghan Football Federation Stadium in Kabul who had also planned to set up a meeting between the sports star and his fan.
