Sports: Beijing all set to host World Winter Sports Expo
The 2016 World Winter Sports (Beijing) Expo (WWSE) will be held at Beijing National Convention Center from October 19 to 22.
The event aims at driving the development of winter sports industry and supporting the preparation of Beijing Winter Olympics.
WWSE is a premium international exhibition focusing on winter sports and the winter sports industry, and has received support from international organizations, said the organizers at Beijing Olympic City Development Association and International Data Group (IDG) in a press conference on Friday.
The first WWSE will consist of exhibition, conference and relative activities, covering topics of winter sports, winter sports industry, winter tourism, and youth training. The WWSE will be held annually.
As a key project of the Beijing Municipal Government to gear up the development of snow and ice sports in 2016-2022, the organizers plan to promote winter sports in China through building the WWSE into an important platform connecting China with international winter sports resources in the next 5 years. This will solidify Chinese people’s understanding of the snow and ice sports culture and speed up the development of the sports industry, including the winter sports industry, in the county, the organizers said.
