BJP leader booked for ‘causing death by blocking ambulance’
Darshan Nagpal allegedly demanded compensation after his car was hit
A case has been registered against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Darshan Nagpal for allegedly holding up an ambulance after it hit his car on August 5 in Haryana’s Fatehabad district, causing a delay that may have led to the death of the patient being transported, ANI reported.
The family of 42-year-old Naveen Soni, who had died by the time the ambulance reached the hospital, said Nagpal blocked the ambulance and refused to let it pass for about half an hour.
Sitaram Soni, Naveen’s elder brother, told NDTV, “Pradhan tailed our car and stopped our ambulance, demanding compensation for damages. The doctor told us if only you had come 15 minutes earlier, we could have saved him.”
Nagpal has denied the allegations. He was quoted as saying, “We didn’t stop the ambulance. There is no question of stopping the ambulance, ask anyone present there. I believe in service, so how can I stop an ambulance.”
