Burglar robs woman, 55, after being found in luxury villa
The homeowner was awakened by noises from the backyard of her villa in Tai Tam on HK Island; she found a man armed with a knife who threatened her
A burglar who broke into a villa in Tai Tam on Hong Kong Island was surprised by a female owner, who he threatened with a knife in the early hours of Friday.
The homeowner surnamed Choy was awakened by noises at 4am in the backyard of her villa on Cedar Drive in Redhill Peninsula, Sing Tao Daily reported.
The woman, 55, went out to check on the noise – and was shocked to see a man.
The burglar threatened her and pushed her back into the house with a knife, before stealing cash totaling HK$2,500 (US$320), two mobile phones and a camera worth about HK$3,500.
The man then fled the scene while the victim, who was not harmed, called the police.
Police officers intercepted vehicles including a mini-bus and taxi by setting up roadblocks at the roundabout on Island Road and Repulse Bay Road. Marine police also patrolled the waters, Oriental Daily reported. However, no one has been arrested yet.
Domestic workers who work in Redhill Peninsula were shocked to hear the news. One of the workers named Julia said she would inform her employer about the robbery.
