TTV Dhinakaran will no longer serve as AIADMK's deputy general secretary
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami on Thursday relieved TTV Dhinakaran, VK Sasikala’s nephew, of the roles and responsibilities of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) deputy general secretary by passing a resolution, according to media reports.
The resolution read, “TTV Dhinakaran’s appointment as deputy general secretary on February 15, 2017, after his expulsion from the party by our then general secretary Jayalalithaa on December 19, 2011, is illegal as it is against the party law 30(V).”
A senior leader supporting former chief minister O Panneerselvam’s camp told IANS that before the merger of two factions, one led by Chief Minister K. Palaniswami and the other by O Panneerselvam, party General Secretary Sasikala and her family members must be removed from their posts. The report also said that both Palaniswami and Panneerselvam would be traveling to Delhi on Thursday evening.
