China fortifies border with North Korea amid tensions
Foreign ministry responds that movements are standard measures
Reports on Chinese military and government websites show Beijing is fortifying China’s 880-mile border with North Korea amid continued tensions between the hermit kingdom and Western powers, according to UPI.
China has been bolstering defenses at the border and realigning other forces in surrounding regions to prepare for a possible crisis, such as a potential U.S. military attack.
In response to questions about reports that the movements are in response to increased tensions, China’s foreign ministry said in a press briefing on Tuesday that the moves are part of standard exercises.
