China maglev train production on track
Faster 160 kilometer-per-hour maglev trains will be used in China’s central Hunan Province
China’s first 160 kilometer-per-hour magnetic levitation, or maglev, trains will be delivered this year.
An executive of CRRC Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive told China Daily that a production line with intelligent manufacturing systems also will be operating by the end of 2018. CRRC Zhuzhou is a unit of Beijing-based China Railway Rolling Stock Corp., the country’s biggest railway equipment maker.
Production of the maglevs is expected to speed the development of medium-to-low speed maglev trains for China’s rail system. The faster maglev trains will be used in Central China’s Hunan Province. Hunan has had a slower 100 kilometer-per-hour maglev line up and running since last year.
