China warns US over aluminum duties
US should take action in a “prudent manner”
Following word this week that the Trump administration would seek to impose punitive duties on imported Chinese aluminum, Beijing has issued a warning to Washington.
“China urges the US to take action in a prudent manner and make a fair ruling to avoid causing a negative impact on normal trade between the two countries,” Wang Hejun, head of the trade remedy and investigations bureau at the Ministry of Commerce in Beijing, was quoted by Caixin as saying in a statement Thursday.
Wang added that Beijing was “highly concerned” about the aluminum case and the potential consequences for the bilateral trade relationship. The final ruling on the investigation is set to be released on October 24.
