What China’s Weibo users have to say about Trump and Clinton
China's social media users don't get much leeway to make fun of their own politicians. They've enjoyed the US presidential race, though
Weibo users have been having a field day with the US presidential campaign. We’ve picked out a handful of posts.
- Debate? It’s karaoke time!
Trump (red text): Do you understand my heart?
Hillary: (white text): “I long for a real relationship..”
Someone turned the interjections from the presidential debates into a karaoke duet meme based on a famous Jackie Chan song.
2. “Free meal if Trump wins”
An American-style diner in Changsha city, Hunan province, is kindly offering a free “Presidential” set meal if Trump wins the election. Customers simply have to share a “check-in” on social media to redeem their prize. There’s no mention of what’s on offer if Hillary wins.
3. Inspiring China’s youth
The caption on this Weibo post reads: “Is there any reason for young people not to work hard, when they see the example of these two elderly citizens fighting furiously for a job? This is the most inspirational thing I have come across in years.”
4. Prediction time
This meme takes a memorable line from the classic British sitcom Yes, Minister.
5. Telling it like it is.
“Actually I like Father Trump. At the end of the day, he won’t be the president of our country. Putin probably shares the same thought.”
