Three men and five women aged between 20 and 95 were admitted to local public hospitals for hypothermia; five remain in a serious condition
Eight people were sent to hospitals for hypothermia on Monday as the city’s temperature dropped to 9.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest recorded so far this winter.
Three men and five women aged between 20 and 95 were admitted to local public hospitals for hypothermia in 24 hours starting from 5pm on Sunday, Ta Kung Pao reported.
They were treated immediately by emergency departments. Five of the eight remained in a serious condition, while two were stable and one was discharged.
In Macau, two elderly, one man and one woman aged 64 and 87 were sent to Hospital Conde S Januário for hypothermia and one needed to stay for medical observation, Jornal Do Cidadao reported.
The Hong Kong Observatory has forecast that the weather will remain cold in the morning for the next few days with a low of 11 degrees Celsius tipped on Wednesday morning, according to a recent bulletin.
But temperatures should rise slightly on Friday and Saturday.
