Descendants of the Sun: Song Joong-ki, Hye-kyo and their villain!
Weeks after the end of the super-hit Korean drama, Descendants of the Sun still remains a super-hot topic online. To add fizz to the already bubbling subject, the lead couple Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo opened up on their togetherness, candid experiences and their common villain (enemy) on the sets.
Joong-Ki and Hye-Kyo talked about their awkwardness related to English language. Reportedly, both the actors faced some difficulty in delivering their dialogues in English during the shoot of Descendants of the Sun.
Both of them are not native English speakers, and hence, as revealed in an interview with VIU Tv, the actors found it quite hard to speak their verses in English. The two had numerous practice session and it took a lot of time for them to memorize the dialogues, Parent Herald also reported.
“There are some English conversations that I didn’t speak fluently, so I have to improvise,” Song Joong-ki stated in the interview. But still, the grand success of the super-hit series speaks volumes about their efforts to excel.
Song Hye Kyo was also provided with professional help to learn medical terms for her character as Dr Kang Mo-Yeon, it has been reported. “There were a lot of professional words and I didn’t know them. But the doctors instructed me a lot,” the actress was quoted by IBT as saying.
It was stated that in order to attract international audience, the New production house had to make English language a mandatory part of the show.
Chinatopix also reported that the two leads stars have revealed that filming was not that easy. The Korean stars were tasked to deliver lines in English as Descendants of the Sun is aimed at reaching audiences beyond Korea and China. The producer of the drama series Hallyu apparently wanted to break into the international market, which is why they had to include English lines.
The Song-Song pair has their fans to thank for the stupendous success.
While Song Joong-Ki did some improvisation on his own, Song Hye-Kyo took it up a notch as she asked for the help of professional doctors to properly teach her medical English terms.
Meanwhile, Dispatch unveiled a photograph and claimed the two Descendants of the Sun stars were officially dating. Dispatch is widely known for exposing celebrity couples in South Korea. Although the two have shut down the dating rumors countless times, it appears that persistent speculations do not affect them much. Song Joong-Ki recently explained that dating rumors are simply swirling because fans love them in their drama Descendants of the Sun.
