Domestic worker accused of stealing employer’s jacket
Woman was accused in court of stealing a jacket worth HK$400 (US$51) from her employer living in the Mid-Levels
A 34-year-old Filipina domestic worker faced a charge of theft at the Eastern Magistrates’ Court recently.
Defendant Aisha B.P. was accused of stealing a jacket worth HK$400 (US$51) from her employer at a residential flat in The Rednazela Terrace in Mid-Levels on Hong Kong Island on October 14, hongkongnews.com.hk reported.
The defendant appeared at the court on October 23 and asked for an adjournment until December 14 for more time to prepare her legal defense.
Presiding Magistrate Peter Law granted her request and required her not to leave Hong Kong.
The maid was ordered to report to the Tsim Sha Tsui police station regularly.
Under Hong Kong’s theft ordinance, any person who commits a theft shall be guilty of an offense and liable to face up to 10 years in jail if convicted.
