The Filipino domestic worker said she was grateful that her former ward grew up to be a kind and compassionate man
A Filipino domestic worker in Hong Kong has been given a free trip to Japan as a gift from her former employer’s son, who she took care of for a number of years.
Adelaida “Aida” Valencia, who now works for an American employer in Shau Kei Wan, said her former employer’s son Tommy invited her to go to Japan for a vacation and offered to pay for her whole trip, sunwebhk.com reported.
Valencia said she took care of Tommy since he was a child as his parents were often away running their business. Tommy said the domestic worker was like a mother to him when he was growing up.
She did not lose touch with him after she went to work for a new employer. She said Tommy was now an artist and professional photographer working in Tokyo.
During one of their conversations, Valencia mentioned to Tommy that she was planning to take a vacation, which prompted Tommy to invite her to Japan and he offered to pay for her airfare and have her stay in his house in Tokyo.
Valencia said when she arrived in Tokyo, her former ward took care of her, cooked for her and took her sightseeing during her stay. Tommy said he was grateful for Valencia’s help and wanted to pay back the care and love she gave him through the years.
