Domestic worker in Dubai allegedly stole from her employer
The domestic worker's employer had long suspected that she was taking money without his permission
A domestic worker in Dubai was arrested after her employer caught her stealing money from his wallet.
According to the employer, he had long suspected that his maid had been taking money without his permission, The Filipino Times reported.
As he had no evidence to prove theft, the employer set a trap by leaving his wallet, containing 1,500 dirhams, on the table when he left home to attend prayers. This left the maid alone in the house with his wallet.
On his return, he found that his wallet was 200 dirhams short. When the domestic worker denied stealing the money, the employer called the police.
The domestic worker later admitted to the police that she stole the money and hid it under a sofa in the living room, Emarat Al Youm reported. Her case was then referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Media reports did not state the nationalities of the employer or his employee.
