Domestic worker injured as her hand gets stuck in blender
The woman called the police for help after the accident, and officers and paramedics freed her from the device and sent her to hospital
A domestic worker was sent to hospital for treatment of an injury after getting her hand caught in a blender in Tuen Mun in Hong Kong’s New Territories on Monday.
At 11:14am, police received a report from a woman who works for a family in Block One of Miami Beach Towers in Tuen Mun that her fingers had gotten stuck in the blender as she used it in the kitchen, Apple Daily reported.
Police and paramedics helped her remove her left hand from the appliance.
Paramedics bandaged the woman’s hand and sent her to hospital for further treatment.
Media reports did not disclose the domestic worker’s nationality. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Domestic workers and their employers should follow electrical and fire safety guidelines relating to the use of household appliances, according to an online employment matching platform.
Employers are advised to show their workers how to use appliances safely, and should warn them about potential dangers, including from touching appliances and plug-points with wet hands.
