Egyptian accused of molesting Filipina secretary in Dubai
Despite an alleged admission during police questioning, the accused denies the charge
An Egyptian mechanic was accused of indecently assaulting a Filipino secretary outside the elevator of a Dubai residential building.
In May at Dubai International City, the Filipina, 38, was headed home when she encountered the Egyptian, 23, in the elevator of her residential building. When the Filipina exited the elevator, the man walked behind her and caressed her backside, Gulf News reported.
The Filipina shouted at the man, who reportedly backed away and apologized. According to the alleged victim, the accused then told her that he wanted a massage. The Filipina reported the incident to the police, who arrested the man after identifying him from the building’s security footage.
At the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday, the accused denied molesting the Filipina. However, according to police testimony, the man admitted during questioning that he had grabbed the Filipina’s backside.
A court ruling will be heard on July 25.
