Ex-employee couple arrested for theft from entrepreneur
About US$6,400 worth of valuables including cash, name-brand handbags and jewelry believed to belong to the victim were seized
A 40-year-old man and his 25-year-old wife, both of Indonesian origin, were arrested in the Malaysian state of Selangor on Tuesday after allegedly stealing from their former employer, a renowned local entrepreneur, last year.
The theft allegedly took place in mid-June at the home of Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman, the director and founder of a company called D’Herbs Healthy, Sin Chew Daily (Malaysia) reported.
The couple were arrested at their home in Pandamaran, Klang district, Selangor. More than 25,000 ringgit (US$6,400) worth of valuables including cash, name-brand handbags and jewelry believed to be Kamarzaman’s property were seized in their home during the operation, police said.
According to Sungai Buloh Police Precinct, officers had earlier arrested two other people, who had since faced theft charges in court. All four arrestees had formerly worked in Kamarzaman’s home.
On June 18, 2017, Kamarzaman posted a video on his personal Facebook page accusing 10 employees – six maids and four gardeners – of stealing cash and jewelry valued at more than 100,000 ringgit and then fleeing.
