The woman had suffered multiple injuries when she was hit by a car in Dubai
A Filipino woman who was badly injured when she was hit by a car in Dubai has been able to walk again after a successful skin graft operation.
On June 28, Ana Marisa Perez, 34, was crossing a road with her dog when she was struck by a car, which dragged her for some distance before the driver stopped, The Filipino Times reported.
Perez was rushed to Rashid Hospital and was found to have suffered fractures to her pelvis and left leg, and lost skin from her groin to her left foot. Her injuries were so serious that they exposed bone and muscle tissue.
Dr. Khalid Al Awadi, head of the Hand and Microsurgery Unit at the hospital, advised Perez to undergo skin graft surgery as well as a series of other operations to help her avoid further complications.
The skin graft operation was successful and Perez expressed her gratitude to Rashid Hospital for helping her recover from the incident.
“I’m so happy because I thought I’d never walk again. Seeing my foot recovering and moving and my skin intact is truly a blessing,” Perez said.
