Filipina domestic worker remanded on alleged drug charge
Customs officers arrested woman at Hong Kong International Airport in May and confiscated 237 grams of suspected methamphetamine, court told
A Filipina domestic worker has been remanded in custody in Hong Kong’s Tai Lam Correctional Centre for Women following her arrest for alleged drug trafficking in May.
The case was adjourned to October 2 at the request of the prosecution for further investigation and legal advice.
Analyn de Leon from Calamba in Laguna province, went to Hong Kong in July 2016 as a domestic worker. She appeared in West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court on Monday on a charge of drug trafficking, the sunwebhk.com reported.
The court heard that customs officers arrested her at the Hong Kong International Airport in May and confiscated 237 grams of suspected methamphetamine. It was not clear if she was returning from the Philippines.
