Filipina volunteer’s wallet stolen at Buddhist center
The woman said the man claimed to be a visitor to the center and then stole her wallet containing several hundred Hong Kong dollars
Police are searching for a man who stole a Filipina’s wallet from a Buddhist center in Central on Hong Kong Island on Monday. At 5pm, a 41-year-old Filipina called police and reported that her wallet had been stolen by a Chinese man from the Buddhist center at the Willie Building on 222 Des Voeux Road Central in Central district, the Oriental Daily reported.
The woman, who worked as a volunteer in the center, told police the man claimed to be a visitor to the Buddhist center and stole her wallet containing a few hundred Hong Kong dollars from a sofa before running off.
The woman chased the man but he got away.
Police are checking surveillance camera footage, news website HK01.com reported.
