Filipino tourist attacked in Hong Kong nightlife district
One attacker pulled the victim from behind and three others joined in, kicking, punching and striking him with bottles
Police are hunting four South Asian men who allegedly attacked a Filipino in Central on Hong Kong Island on Saturday night.
At 2am, when a 39-year-old tourist from the Philippines finished drinking with friends in Central’s Lan Kwai Fong nightlife district, four South Asian men attacked him as he went for a taxi, Apple Daily reported.
One attacker pulled the victim from behind and the other three stepped up and hit him with beer bottles before kicking and punching him.
The attack lasted for about 10 seconds before the four fled.
Passers-by reported the case to the police but officers were unable to find suspects in the area, Oriental Daily reported.
The victim suffered head and leg injuries but remained in a conscious state, and was sent to hospital for medical treatment.
Officers are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras in attempts to ascertain the reason for the attack and to identify the attackers.
