Filipino woman killed in hit-and-run in Toronto
The victim's family pleaded to the driver who hit the Filipino immigrant with his pickup to come forward and surrender to police
A Filipino immigrant was killed after she was struck by a pickup truck in Toronto, Ontario. On Monday afternoon, Isabel Soria, 50, who had lived in Canada for 18 years, was on her way to a branch of ServiceOntario, the provincial government’s public service arm, when a gray pickup hit her, Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
Soria was taken to hospital in critical condition but died of her injuries.
The driver of the pickup left the scene of the accident at Dufferin Street and Briar Hill Avenue and police were searching for him.
Police said the driver was an American man in his 30s who was wearing a construction vest at the time of the incident.
According to Toronto news channel CP24, Soria’s family is pleading to the driver to come forward and surrender to police.
