Foreign trio detained for possessing banned weapons
Two men - one with a Nepalese passport, the other a Sri Lankan - and a Filipino woman were arrested in Yuen Long for having prohibited weapons
Police arrested two men and a woman on Wednesday for allegedly possessing weapons in a village house in Yuen Long in the New Territories.
Police raided a village house in Fung Kat Heung in Yuen Long at 4pm and confiscated different weapons, including two nunchucks, one three-sectional staff, two axes, a knife, a sickle and a machete, Oriental Daily reported.
A 41-year-old man holding a Nepalese passport, a 50-year-old asylum seeker from Sri Lanka and a 50-year-old woman of Filipino origin were arrested for allegedly possessing the weapons and detained at the police station for further investigation.
According to Weapons Ordinance, any person caught possessing a prohibited weapon commits an offense and is liable to a fine of up to $10,000 and up to three years in jail, Sing Pao reported.
