Foreigners barred from entering Philippines for being ‘rude’
The Bureau of Immigration placed a total of 133 foreigners on the immigration blacklist, which bans them from re-entering the Philippines
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said a total of 133 foreigners were barred from entering the Philippines for being rude and disrespectful to BI officers.
Grifton Medina, the BI port operations division chief, said among the foreigners barred from entering the country were 37 Chinese nationals, 25 Americans and 23 South Koreans, GMA News reported.
Medina said the foreigners were placed on the immigration blacklist, which bans them from re-entering the Philippines. “The entry and stay of foreigners in the country is only a privilege, not a right. Insulting BI officers is not allowed,” Medina said.
Medina reminded visiting foreigners to be respectful and avoid using foul and indecent language when talking to immigration officers whom they encounter in the country’s port of entry.
BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the BI has been strictly implementing a policy to not allow foreigners who show arrogance or make offensive words against immigration officers.
