Former lover fined S$2,000 for posting sex tape of maid
A Bangladeshi man and an Indonesian maid met regularly on the staircase in her employer’s apartment and had sex, which the man video-taped and posted
A Bangladeshi man who posted a video on social media of himself and his former lover having sex in a stairwell was fined S$2,000 (US$1,455) by a Singapore court on Tuesday.
The man, a migrant construction worker, pleaded guilty to a number of charges over his harassment of a 32-year-old Indonesian woman working as a maid in Singapore.
The man faced four charges, including voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and possessing and distributing sexually explicit material, Lianhe Wanbao (Singapore) reported.
The court heard that the man met the woman, who cannot be named due to a court order, after they became friends on Facebook. The pair had an intimate relationship for three months between May and August in 2017, during which time they often met on a staircase in the HDB block where she worked and had sex.
After the woman decided to end the relationship in August, the pair met again in a bid to reconcile and had sex on the staircase on Sept. 11, which the man recorded on his mobile phone.
In the morning on Sept. 15, the man confronted the woman at an elevator in the block in a bid to resurrect their relationship but was rejected. The man then slapped the woman in the face and threatened to post the sex tape on Facebook.
Later that day the maid filed a complaint to police after seeing the intimate video online. Singapore police arrested the man on Sept. 20 at his workplace and the video was also recovered from his mobile phone.
