Fourteen dead after anti-drug operation in Cebu
Central Visayas police conducted an anti-drug operation called One Time, Big Time and fatalities were reported in Talisay and Cebu
At least 14 people were shot dead by police and two survived during anti-drug operations in Talisay City and Cebu City in the Philippines on Thursday.
At 3am on Thursday, the Central Visayas police office conducted an anti-drug operation called One Time, Big Time, which ended with 14 fatalities – seven were killed in Cebu City, while seven were killed in Talisay City, Philippines Daily Inquirer reported.
Among the 14 killed, five were found in a van and near two motorcycles on the TransCentral Highway in the mountain village of Malubog, Cebu City. According to the two survivors, the five were among seven people taken by policemen at a mall and apartment building in the village of Guadalupe at 5pm on Wednesday.
However, police acknowledged only nine fatalities in the anti-drug operation – three in Cebu and six in Talisay. The killing of the five coincided with nearly simultaneous police drug raids.
Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas, director of the Central Visayas police, said police were not involved in the abduction and killing of the five people in Guadalupe and Malubog.
