Gang ‘assaults’ man for speaking to friend in English
Police have arrested three suspects and are hunting for two others
Five men allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old man in New Delhi because he was having a conversation in fluent English with a friend he was dropping off a friend at a hotel early on Saturday morning, according to media reports.
While Noida-resident Varun Gulati was walking back from the five-star hotel in Connaught Place, a group of five men surrounded him and asked him why was he speaking English. An argument erupted and the men assaulted Gulati, police said.
The assailants fled the scene in a car but Gulati managed to make a note of the vehicle’s number.
On the basis of the number plate, three suspects were identified and arrested, police said, adding that they are hunting for the other two.
