German central bank chief joins calls to end ECB stimulus
Strong growth and rising inflation have increased the pressure on the ECB
Jens Weidmann has joined senior German figures in calling for an end to European Central Bank (ECB) stimulus policies, as the European economic recovery continues.
ECB president Mario Draghi has been reluctant to abruptly end the stimulus, arguing that rising inflation is fragile and driven mainly by volatile energy prices.
But Weidmann insists that the economic recovery will continue and will put pressure on prices.
