‘God doll’ vendors raided for tax evasion

The craze for these so-called ‘God dolls’ that are believed to bring good luck to buyers is so big in Thailand that the authorities have raided vendors for tax evasion. Known in Thai as luuk thep (child angels), these little puppets, which can cost up to $600, were first popularised by celebrities who claimed dressing up and feeding the dolls had brought them professional success.
