Hong Kong hiker, 81, found after being missing for 3 days
The woman was found sitting on a rock near a river, cooling her feet in the water
An 81-year-old woman who went missing for three days after going hiking with her husband in Tsuen Wan, the New Territories was found safe on Wednesday.
At 8am, the woman surnamed Ng was found near a river in Shing Mun Country Park by an officer from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Sing Tao Daily reported.
Search and rescue teams had been scouring the country park since Ng went missing on Sunday. A team re-traced the route that the couple had taken, calling out the woman’s name as they proceeded along the trail.
Four kilometers along the trail, the team heard a reply. Mrs Ng was found sitting on a rock next to a river without shoes, cooling her feet in the water.
The woman had sustained abrasions to her legs and back and was sent to Yan Chai Hospital for examination.
When police officers asked her about the days she was missing, the woman was unable to remember what had happened.
The husband said that this was was not the first time his wife had become lost during a hike. He claimed not to know whether she suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, but admitted that his wife sometimes suffered from memory loss, but was still able to recognize people and had not forgotten how to get angry with him, Apple Daily reported.
