Indonesian woman in Hong Kong arrested over drug parcel
Customs officers at Hong Kong International Airport found 2.4 kilograms of suspected ecstasy after X-raying a package from Belgium
A 33-year-old Indonesian woman in Hong Kong was arrested for drug trafficking on Tuesday. She was the intended recipient of a package from overseas containing illegal drugs.
Oriental Daily reports that on March 10, officers from the Customs and Excise Department at Hong Kong International Airport found 2.4 kilograms of suspected ecstasy after X-raying a package from Belgium.
The drugs were concealed in hidden compartments in the parcel, which purported to contain only a toy car and a vacuum cleaner.
Customs officers on Tuesday arrested the Indonesian woman, who has been staying in Hong Kong with a temporary permit, in Kowloon’s Yau Ma Tei.
Officers later searched her home in Sham Shui Po but found. Their investigations will continue, including monitoring whether any further parcels are involved.
