Kerala ISIS suspect arrested
Man, 32, flew into Delhi with forged passport after Turkey deported him
A Kerala man suspected of having links with ISIS was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Wednesday, according to media reports.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Shahjahan Velluva, who is from Kannur, had been deported from Turkey and was traveling with a fake passport.
PTI reported that the Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Shahjahan after the CIA informed it that he would be arriving.
Shahjahan had already been deported twice by Turkey for alleged involvement in terrorist activities and for traveling with a fake passport.
“A case of cheating, forgery, impersonation and under sections of the passport act has been registered against him. We are probing his links with ISIS. We will interrogate him to probe how he got a forged passport,” a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, on Shahjahan’s phone, the police reportedly found several telegram IDs of ISIS sympathizers through which he was allegedly in touch with other people linked to the terrorist group in India and Syria.
