Maid stabs employer’s daughter to death in Saudi
The Ethiopian domestic worker also injured the 11-year-old girl's brother, 14; the maid was arrested after police were contacted by the children's mother
An Ethiopian domestic worker in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, stabbed her female employer’s daughter to death and injured her son. The maid, whose identity was not disclosed, was left alone in the apartment with 11-year-old girl Nawal Qarni and her brother Ali, 14. The children’s mother was at work, Saudi Gazette reported.
The domestic worker suddenly started crying and talking to herself. The children did not understand what had happened and left the maid alone. Ali went to his room while his sister Nawal went to the living room.
Ali heard his sister screaming and ran to the living room, where he saw the maid attacking Nawal with a knife. When Ali tried to rescue his sister, the domestic worker stabbed him 14 times.
The boy was able to get away from the maid and locked himself in the bathroom. He called his mother and told her about the incident before he fainted. The children’s mother immediately contacted police.
The police broke down the apartment door and found Nawal was dead. Ali, who suffered serious injuries, was sent to King Khaled University Hospital.
The domestic worker was arrested and is in custody pending trial.
