Man arrested for allegedly raping woman he met online
Construction worker aged 29 communicated with woman, 25, via a dating app; he invited her to his flat then asked to have sex, but she declined
A 29-year-old Hong Kong man, who works as a construction worker, was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a local woman he met online at his home in Tin Shui Wai in the New Territories.
The victim, a 25-year-old woman, told police she was raped by a man, surnamed Lam, in a public flat at Tin Yan Estate in Tin Shui Wai on Sunday, Apple Daily reported.
The two met on a dating app, which requires users to login with their Facebook accounts before they can find a partner, Oriental Daily reported.
After they had communicated via the app for some time, Lam invited the woman for a face-to-face meeting in his flat.
He asked to have sex with the woman but was rejected. He then allegedly raped her, and left the flat after the incident.
The victim called police at around 8pm after talking to a friend. She was sent to hospital for treatment.
Police arrested the suspect in his flat on Monday afternoon and confiscated his mobile phone for investigation.
