Man arrested for beating up partner in Philippines
The Pasay police said the Chinese man allegedly beat up his Filipina partner because he suspected her of having an affair
A Chinese man was arrested for assaulting his Filipino live-in partner in their apartment in Pasay City in the Philippines.
At 5am on Wednesday at Oceanaire Condominium, Jingren Dai, 35, was apprehended by building security guards after his partner Menaiko Daicosta Otani, 22, sought help claiming she had been assaulted, Philippine Star reported.
The security guards were able to restrain Dai and police arrived at the apartment building to arrest him. Otani told the police that Dai assaulted her due to jealousy. She was said to have sustained injuries to her face and head.
Otani was brought to Pasay City General Hospital for treatment to her injuries while Dai was turned over to the Pasay police. According to the police, Dai allegedly beat up Otani after accusing her of having an affair with another man.
Dai will be charged with violating Republic Act 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act, and could face a jail term and a fine of up to PHP100,000 (US$1,849).
