Man arrested for selling fake Ocean Park tickets online
The victims, who did not know one another, had purchased the tickets on the same online platform for half the official price or less
Hong Kong police arrested a 46-year-old man on Tuesday who allegedly sold 26 fake Ocean Park Halloween Fest tickets online for HK$10,500 (US$1,345).
Seven victims reported to the police on Tuesday that Ocean Park staff had refused to let them enter the theme park for the Halloween party as their tickets were counterfeit.
The victims, who did not know one another, had purchased the tickets on the same online platform for half the official price of HK$800 or less. They then received the tickets at the MTR station and paid by cash, Headline Daily reported.
A police inspector said the tickets were of bad quality and produced by a printer.
Chung was arrested for obtaining property by deception.
An Ocean Park spokesman said it would continue to cooperate with police. It urged the public to buy tickets via official channels, such as the park’s entrance, its official website, and 7-Eleven stores.
