A 29-year-old man was arrested for carrying a 30-centimeter paring knife that was tucked under his arm onto an MTR subway train on Hong Kong Island Line.

At around 7am, the man boarded the train in Shau Kei Wan heading to Kennedy Town, Headline Daily reported. Passengers alerted MTR staff four stops later, and police made the arrest between Causeway Bay and Wan Chai.

There was no struggle, no one was threatened and train services were not disrupted. Leung, who local media speculated was suffering from some kind of mental illness, told police he was planning to use the knife to cut fruit. Police said he may be charged with carrying an offensive weapon in public.
