Men charged with drug taking, cursing president in video
A video of seven men smoking marijuana and cursing Duterte taken in 2016 but only circulated on social media last week has landed them in hot water
Seven men who were filmed smoking marijuana and cursing the Philippine president have been charged with drug offenses after the video went viral on social media.
The video was taken in 2016, was only circulated on social media recently. In the video, seven men were seen rolling joints and smoking them and had packets of what appeared to be marijuana, ABS-CBN News reported.
The men also cursed Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and told him to legalize marijuana, saying they were not committing any crimes and the drug just made them happy.
On August 28, the men surrendered to Malabon police. Police identified them as Comelio Aguilar, 22, Kurt Edison Aflo, 22, Emmanuel Guerrero, 23, Ran-Ran Santos, 23, Cendrick Acharon, 21, Juaneil Arvie Isles, 18 and Randal Louis Roque, 20, Philippines Daily Inquirer reported.
According to the men, their group chat had been hacked and the video circulated. The Philippine National Police said the men will have to take a drug test. The group said the last time they took drugs was two months ago.
The men face charges for violating the Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and “unjust vexation” for cursing the president.
