Migrant worker couple lose children in Philippines fire
The Filipino couple, who have worked in Saudi Arabia for 15 years, lost their two children after a fire broke out in their home in the Philippines
A married Filipino couple who are migrant workers in Saudi Arabia lost their two children, aged 10 and 11, in a fire at their home in Iloilo in the Philippines.
At 3am on Friday the fire at the couple’s home killed their two children and their maternal grandmother, The Filipino Times reported.
According to the authorities, the two children and their grandmother were asleep in the second floor of the house when a fire started. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
The children’s father said that he and their mother had talked to the children by telephone only a few hours before the fire broke out. Upon learning about the news, his wife fainted and was rushed to hospital.
The couple have been working in a private hospital in Jeddah for 15 years. Hans Cacdac, administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, said that they will be helping the couple to return home to Iloilo.
