Myanmar maid arrested for assault on baby boy in Macau
The female employer turned on the remote surveillance camera when she was out and claimed she saw the domestic worker assault her son
A 27-year-old maid from Myanmar was arrested for alleged assault causing actual bodily harm to a 14-month-old boy in Macau on Saturday after surveillance camera footage showed her slapping the youngster in her care.
The domestic worker, who was employed by a family living in an apartment on Avenida do Nordeste, had been taking care of the young twins, a boy and a girl, since April. She was filmed slapping the boy on June 13, the Macao Daily News reported.
The case came to light when the female employer turned on the remote surveillance camera while she was out of the apartment and saw the domestic worker assault her son. She immediately reported the case to police.
A police officer looked at the video footage and saw the domestic worker slap the boy’s face when he was going to take an afternoon nap and she did it again twice after the boy fell asleep. She told police she only “slapped his head gently to make him fall asleep easily. ”
The boy was sent to a hospital for a check-up and a forensic examination report revealed the boy’s injury matched the alleged offense of assault. The maid was arrested and detained for further questioning.
