New China-made jetliner receives 130 new orders
The narrow-body C919 now has now landed a total of 730 orders
Shanghai-based Commercial Aircraft Corp of China’s (COMAC) C919, the first domestically produced Chinese passenger plane, has received 130 new orders, the company announced Tuesday.
The deals were made with four domestic leasing companies, including Agricultural Bank of China’s Financial Leasing Co, China Nuclear E&C Group, Huabao Leasing and AVIC International Leasing.
“This is the largest number of orders since the maiden flight of the C919, which indicates the confidence and recognition of the market toward the plane,” the firm was quoted by Caixin as saying in a statement.
COMAC also released more optimistic estimates of Chinese demand than figures put out by Boeing. It says it forecasts Chinese airlines to need 8,575 new aircraft worth US$1.21 trillion, versus Boeing’s estimate of 7,240 planes.
