Newlywed husband’s last message to wife before plane crash
Traffic jam kept one government official on the road and he missed the flight
Only minutes before Lion Air flight JT-610 crashed into the Java Sea on October 29, Deryl Fida Febrianto sent a selfie to his wife – one that would ultimately be his final photo.
Febrianto, 22, sent the photo at 6:01 am from the plane, only 32 minutes before the plane crashed into the water, The Sun reported. Febrianto had just married childhood sweetheart Lutfinani Eka Puri two weeks prior.
His wife said he kept sending texts until 6:12 am, the last time she heard from him.
He was on his way to work on a cruise ship after getting married. Puri heard the tragic news of the crash and then matched the flight number with the photo of the ticket Febrianto had sent her earlier.
Meanwhile, another Indonesian had a lucky escape when he missed the flight. Sony Setiawan, a government official working for the Indonesian Finance Ministry, was stuck on a toll road for hours and missed flight JT610 – which he regularly took with his friends for work, AFP reported.
Flight JT610 crashed at 6:33 am on Monday. All 189 people, including passengers and crew, died in the accident.
