Pakistani man attacks bus commuter, claims to be a cop
Police found Chan with injuries on his head, face, hands and legs; he was sent to North Lantau Hospital for treatment; 25-year-old suspect arrested
A 25-year-old man of Pakistani origin was arrested on Monday for allegedly attacking a bus commuter in Tung Chung on Lantau Island and claiming to be a police officer.
The man, with the name “Bin”, got involved in a row on a bus to Yat Tung Shopping Center in Tung Chung, HK01.com reported.
At 5pm, when Bin wanted to get off the bus, he clashed with a 30-year-old local man surnamed Chan and the duo had an argument.
The suspect dragged the local man off the bus, punched him and beat him up. When Chan called the police, the suspect told him that he was a police officer, Oriental Daily reported.
Police arrived and subdued the suspect. Chan, who had injuries on his head, face, hands and legs, was sent to North Lantau Hospital for treatment.
The suspect was arrested for suspected assault causing bodily harm and posing as police officer.
The crime unit from Lantau Island police is following up on the case.
