Japanese disc jockey and comedian Piko-Taro is fast gaining a reputation as the new Psy, thanks to his catchy 45-second novelty song that has gone viral, clocking up more than 115 million views on YouTube since its release in late September.

The song, “PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen),” has also made history by becoming the shortest one ever to break into the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.

But Piko-Taro, who also goes by the name of Kosaka Daimaou, still has a long way to go if he is to beat Psy, the South Korean pop star who’s phenomenal hit Gangnam Style has had more than 2 billion YouTube views.
