Police book comedy group for making fun of prime minister
All India Bakchod charged with defamation after "offensive" tweet
The Mumbai police cyber cell booked comedy group All India Bakchod (AIB) for defamation after its account tweeted a post making fun of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to media reports.
A complaint accusing it of posting offensive content concerning the prime minister was filed against the group on Friday.
According to reports, AIB posted an image of Modi with a Snapchat dog filter, along with a Modi lookalike standing at a railway station looking into his phone with the hashtag “wanderlust.” NDTV reported that the post was seen as a dig at Modi’s frequent foreign tours.
Social media users lashed out at the comedy group for the “offensive” post, which has been deleted, and for “hurting their semtiments.”
Meanwhile, the comedy group was earlier criticized for co-founder Tanmay Bhatt’s “roast” of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and singer Lata Mangeshkar.
