Police hunt Vietnamese man in indecent assault case
A man who said he was a Vietnamese migrant worker approached a woman and told her he wanted to have sex with her and then groped her
Police are searching for a Vietnamese migrant worker who is alleged to have indecently assaulted a 23-year-old Taiwanese woman in the early hours of Sunday in Tainan, southwest Taiwan.
The woman had been visiting her boyfriend in Annan district of Tainan over the weekend, the China Times reported. At 3am on April 15, she was unable to sleep and went for a walk along the Yanshui River, 50 meters from her boyfriend’s home, to get some fresh air.
She took a seat next to the water and was smoking a cigarette when a man approached and said he was a Vietnamese migrant worker. The woman was playing on her mobile phone while talking to the man when he told her he wanted to have sex with her. He then put his arms around her waist tightly and fondled her.
Afraid the man was carrying the weapon, the woman did not call for help but sent a message to her boyfriend via an instant messaging app. The Vietnamese man fled when he saw her boyfriend approaching.
The woman, who was very upset, then went with her boyfriend and filed a report at the Anxi Police station. Taiwan police were reviewing closed circuit television footage in the neighborhood.
