Police rescue ‘Blue Whale’ girl
Officers saw 17-year-old online suicide game player jump into a lake
Jodhpur police rescued a 17-year-old girl after she jumped into a lake on Monday night, according to media reports. She had a “Blue Whale,” a symbol representing an online suicide game that has claimed numerous lives, carved into her arm, according to media reports.
Police officers said they saw the girl driving around on a scooter before she jumped in. When they dragged her out of the water, she said, “If I don’t complete my task my mother will die.”
The girl had left home claiming that she was going to the market. When she did not return, her parents panicked and started searching for her.
Blue Whale is a 50-day challenge that is believed to have originated in Russia. A series of tasks are assigned to players by the game administrators, each one potentially fatal, with the final challenge requiring the player to commit suicide.
