Sai Kung hike proves deadly to local man with heart disease

Emergency helicopter lift to hospital on east side of Hong Kong Island failed to save the 61-year-old man’s life, and he was pronounced dead at 2pm

A 61-year-old Hong Kong man with a history of heart disease died after hiking in Sai Kung during the Ching Ming festival on Tuesday morning.

At about 11am, the man surnamed Yu fell unconscious about half an hour into a hike from Tai Au Mun to Lung Ha Wan in Clearwater Bay Country Park with two relatives, Metro Daily reported.

He was flown by a Government Flying Service helicopter to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2pm. The man had previously shared information with friends over social media on how to stay healthy.
