Seven people were arrested early on Tuesday morning for fighting outside a Lan Kwai Fong bar in Central on Hong Kong Island after drinkers and bar staff clashed over smoking inside.

A 38-year-old mainland woman, four Hong Kong men, aged between 38 and 52, were drinking in a bar near Ho Lee Commercial Building at midnight on Monday, HK01.com reported.

They quarreled with a female Nepali staff member, who asked them not to smoke inside the bar. A male Nepali employee tried to ease escalating tensions, but the customers and staff started fighting in the bar, which then spilled into the street.

The police arrested the seven people, while one of the Hong Kong men was sent to the hospital, Oriental Daily reported.
