Lee Wai-man was attacked in a Hung Hom shopping mall
Six South Asians stole a suitcase containing 24 gold bars and 10 million Japanese yen (US$89,400) from former Hong Kong national football captain Lee Wai-man in a Hung Hom shopping mall in Kowloon district on Wednesday, Sing Tao Daily reported.
Lee was walking in the mall at 8pm, located on Metropolis Drive, when the men started following him, punched him in the face, stole the one-meter suitcase and fled in a van.
The suspects wore black T-shirts, caps and surgical masks and two of them were armed with knives, Oriental Daily reported. Lee called the police, who are hunting the robbers, and he refused hospital treatment.
Lee, whose father was an instructor at the Hong Kong Police College, is now teaching at the Hong Kong School of Motoring.
